The service we provide

We are a small, privately owned company (established in 1982) that specialises in providing a "one stop shop" supply service to organisations, libraries, schools and individuals. Some of the materials that we supply include: books, journals, magazines, maps, guides, health and safety notes, standards, passbooks, gift vouchers, compact discs, videos, tapes, digital versatile discs, software, training materials, microfiche, research notes. We trade with hundreds of suppliers and distributors around the world, and are accustomed to obtaining hard to find items that cannot easily be puchased via conventional book shops or online services.

Using Book Express

If you have never bought anything through us before, then do not worry! We would be happy to set up a new account for you, and would be pleased to talk you through your first order by phone if you like. If you know all the details of the item(s) that you wish to buy or would like us to quote for, then simply fill out our online ordering and enquiry form and we will e-mail or call you back with the confirmation or quotation. Don't worry if you do not have much information to go on - we have a good knowledge of a broad spectrum of subjects and can offer advice and assistance if necessary.

How orders are processed

When we receive an enquiry by phone, fax or e-mail we will try to process it straight away. We use sophisticated databases to look up items based on their description, title, ISBN, publisher etc. and if what you want can be found immediately, we can give you a quotation there and then. If we need to do additional work to find what you are looking for, we will do this and call you back. If you decide to go ahead and place an order, we simply require a phone call, fax or e-mail with your delivery details on and the details of the item(s) you require. Most goods arrive within 5 working days, and are shipped out the same day. Some of our customers request regular weekly consolidated deliveries and all local schools and businesses that order from us regularly can benefit from our free delivery service. If you require urgent delivery of your goods, you must tell us when you place the order if possible, so that we can ensure that we make every effort to obtain your items from the quickest suppliers. If you require progress on an outstanding order, simply contact us and we will give you up to the minute progress on the goods. Your goods will be shipped with a delivery note stating what is in the consignment, and an invoice will either be provided in the package or will be sent on later to you or a nominated alternative accounts address.

Payment details

We accept payment by credit or debit card (including company purchasing cards), cheque, postal order, BACS, CHAPS and International funds transfer. If you pay by credit card, your statement will show a transaction with a reference of "Informe Limited". If you are a library, school or business we would be happy to set up a credit account for you to use, which will allow you and authorised departments to buy from us without having to worry about proforma payments.

Business contracts

Organisations and libraries looking to reduce their costs and streamline their library or publication facilities can do so by purchasing goods through Book Express. We can tailor what we provide by offering a variety of value added service: We handle journal and magazine subscriptions and manage renewals and circulation lists, delivering them pre-prepared to your sites. We can label and attach dust covers and security tags to items before delivering them. We offer cost centre billing for invoices as well as consolidated weekly or monthly billing. We can even act as a virtual department within your organisation and manage the purchasing and supply of materials directly.
